Attune is a short, meditative audiovisual tone-memory game inspired by Hermann Hesse’s classic novel Siddhartha. It takes less than ten minutes to run through, asking for careful listening rather than twitch reflexes.

You do not need to be Buddhist, spiritual, or well-versed in Eastern philosophy to get something out of it. Hesse's book endures because the core problems are universal: the friction between expectations and autonomy, the trap of chasing status until you feel hollow, the ache of regret, and the challenge of letting go of control. Between puzzles, the narrative unfolds through nine distinct chapters, tracing a restless search for stillness across the realms of Body, Mind, and Spirit.

How It Works

  • Listen to the sequence: Each puzzle rings out a melodic pattern of resonant temple chimes and Himalayan singing bowls. Focus on the pitch and rhythm.
  • Recall the tones: Match the sequence using the on-screen jade controls or your keyboard (Up Arrow for High, Down Arrow for Low).
  • Progress along the path: The journey covers 9 stages (27 puzzles total). Puzzles begin with simple single-tone echoes in Stage 1 and grow by one note each stage as you move along the winding ink-wash path toward the river.
  • Unpack the lore: Advancing to a new stage unlocks that chapter in the Lore Book, detailing Siddhartha's internal conflict and transitions before the next set of chimes begins.
  • Three strikes: Keep your focus steady. You have three strikes before the journey resets.
